Owen's Newborn Pics...

When Owen was 3 weeks old I had his newborn photos taken by a WONDERFUL photographer here in Dallas- Kristie Mills. She did such a fabulous job even though Owen was a bit of a stinker that day. He wouldn't stay asleep, but you would never know from the pictures. She was so great with him and somehow was able to pose him and capture the moment before he opened his eyes. She even has all of the cute "props" for the photos (baby cocoons, hats, baskets, etc.). If you have a baby or young children and are in the Dallas area, I highly recommend Kristie. Owen's Nursery...

I have been meaning to post some pictures of Owen's nursery for months now. My talented mom made everything- curtains, bedding, lampshade, trash can cover, and diaper stacker! She is a quilter at heart (she makes BEAUTIFUL quilts) but she took some time away from quilting to make all of these things for me. To me, it made it all so much more special to have Owen's bedding custom made by his "Mimi" than to go out and buy something (plus I saved a bundle!). I am so in love with all of it and his room is now my favorite place in the house.

Getting back into the swing of things...

So... I am still alive. It has been nice (and very necessary) taking a break from blogging, etc. and spending time taking care of my new little guy, but I am kinda ready to get back into the things of my "previous life". :)

Whoever said that babies spend most of the day sleeping lied. Yes, I suppose they do sleep alot, but for some reason, it still never allows me a spare minute to do much of anything. Unfortunately, my designing and blogging has had to take a back seat to everything else. Owen is now going on two months old, and is finally able and willing to take a nap in his swing and not in my arms....so that means a little free time on the computer for me!

As we adjust to this new version of "normal", I am still technically on 'maternity leave', but will hopefully slowly start blogging and designing more.

A little update on Owen...

He is doing great and all of his fussiness (which is slowly starting to fade away!) aside, we are really enjoying him and loving him more every day. He started smiling at us around 5 or 6 weeks and that seems to make all of the fussing worth it! I am waiting for him to start laughing....he looks like he wants to. :) He is going on 12 pounds now and is in the 75th percentile for height and weight. Just perfect and right on track. He enjoys sitting in his Bumbo seat- and I think it might be the cutest thing I have ever seen. All in all, we are doing good. I have tons of cute pictures of him, but will only post a couple of him in his Bumbo seat because I think they are so cute.

Introducing Owen Grey Simmons!

Proud "Aunt Mindy" here posting on behalf of Marina and Chris regarding the arrival of their bundle of joy, Owen Grey Simmons! Owen arrived via c-section at 3:44am on Saturday, August 8th. He weighed 7lbs 8oz and was 20" long. Both mom and baby are doing very well! They are scheduled to come home tomorrow. Here are a couple of pictures of Owen that I took today....he is one handsome boy!!
